What is Canning?
Each jar is a labor of love that takes several steps and many hours of work to produce.
Step 1: Before any jam is put in, every part of the can (lids and jar) is sterilized; making sure to soak each lid.
Step 2: Fruit has to be prepared and emulsified if necessary (fruit does not need to be emulsified if recipe calls for preservation of fruit chunks).
Step 3: Jars are then filled with prepared jam, making sure to clean the rim of each jar (any residue can get in the way of the canning process).
Step 4: The sterilized, hot lids and caps get placed on the jars and screwed fingertip tight.
Step 5: Jars are placed in the canner where the magic happens!
Step 6: Once canned, jars have to sit out at room temperature for 24 hours.
Step 7: Jars are now ready to be labeled and shipped to you!
